Dr. Green is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology at Duke University, a faculty member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI), and was Chief of the Endocrinology section at the Durham VA Medical Center from 2003-2017. Dr. Green’s clinical practice and research have focused upon strategies to treat diabetes mellitus and reduce the risk of CV and other disease-related complications. She is presently the Duke University site PI, Publications Committee Co-Chair, and Executive Committee Member for GRADE, a federally-funded, long-term comparative effectiveness study of glucose-lowering medications for T2D. Her coordinating center experience has included clinical and operational leadership roles, protocol design and development, and oversight of endpoint event adjudication committees for several large, international trials designed to determine the CV effects of newer glucose-lowering medications (TECOS, EXSCEL, and Harmony Outcomes). She was PI of the US coordinating center at DCRI and US national representative for the global EMPA-Kidney trial, and holds similar roles in the ongoing EASi-Kidney trial. Dr. Green also has held multiple roles with the American Diabetes Association (ADA), including serving for several years on the organization’s Professional Practice Committee, serving as a member of the ADA-EASD writing group which recently revised their joint consensus statement on the management of hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes, and she is currently an Associate Editor of Diabetes Care.
