Dr. Erin Michos is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, with joint appointment in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is the Director of Women's Cardiovascular Health Research and the Associate Director of Preventive Cardiology with the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease.
Dr. Michos is an internationally known expert in Preventive Cardiology and Women's Health and has authored over 700 publications and 11 book chapters. Her research has focused on (1) Women's Cardiovascular Health, (2) Lipids and lipid management, (3) CV risk prediction using coronary artery calcium scores and biomarkers, and (4) Cardiometabolic diseases. She is the Co-Editor in Chief for the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
Dr. Michos is the Co-Center Director for the IMPACT Center at Johns Hopkins, funded by the American Heart Association (AHA) studying diversity in clinical trial enrollement. She is a co-investigator in the National Institute of Health-funded Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) and Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) cohorts. She is the Training Director for four AHA Strategic Focused Research Networks at Johns Hopkins University. She is an honorary Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA), American College of Cardiology (FACC), American Society of Echocardiography (FASE), and the American Society of Preventve Cardiology (FASPC).
Dr. Michos completed medical school at Northwestern University and then completed both Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She also completed her Masters of Health Science degree in Cardiovascular Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
